Know Your Roast

Dark Roast

Bold & Intense

Dark roasts are roasted to high temperatures, developing deep caramelized sugars and low acidity. The result is a full-bodied cup with rich, smoky, and chocolatey notes. The origin flavors of the bean take a back seat — the roast itself becomes the star.

Medium Roast

Balanced & Rich

Medium roasts hit the sweet spot between the bright acidity of light roasts and the bold intensity of dark roasts. You get a well-rounded cup that honors both the bean's origin character and the depth that roasting brings. Complex, versatile, and approachable for any brew method.

Common Questions

Coffee FAQ

Does dark roast have more caffeine?
Actually, light roasts have slightly more caffeine by weight — the longer roasting process for dark roasts breaks down a small amount of caffeine. The difference is minimal in practice, but if you're maximizing caffeine, medium roasts hit the sweet spot.
Whole bean or ground — which is better?
Whole bean is always better for freshness. Coffee begins losing flavor within 15–30 minutes of grinding. If you have a grinder, buy whole bean and grind just before brewing. If you don't, pre-ground is perfectly fine — just store it in an airtight container away from light and heat.
How should I store my coffee?
Store in a cool, dark, dry place in an airtight container. Avoid the fridge or freezer — condensation from temperature changes accelerates staleness. Your Molten Cup Co. bag is resealable and designed to preserve freshness, but for long-term storage a dedicated coffee canister works best.
What is 100% Arabica?
Arabica is one of two main species of coffee (the other being Robusta). Arabica beans are grown at higher altitudes, take longer to mature, and produce a smoother, more complex cup with nuanced flavor notes. Robusta is higher in caffeine but tends to taste more bitter and harsh. All Molten Cup Co. coffees are 100% Arabica.
How long does coffee stay fresh after opening?
Ground coffee is best within 1–2 weeks of opening. Whole bean stays fresh for 2–4 weeks after opening. Coffee is technically safe to drink beyond this — it just loses its peak flavor. Our bags are nitrogen-flushed and sealed with a one-way valve to maximize shelf life before you open them.
What makes Hemp Harvest different?
Hemp Harvest is our specialty medium roast blended with hemp-derived plant nutrition. It contains no THC and won't make you high — hemp seed is added for its nutritional profile including omega fatty acids and plant protein. It's the same bold, smooth cup you expect, with added functional benefits for your morning routine.
